Why rebuild your Porsche gearbox?
There are two main reasons why vehicle owners choose to repair their gearboxes: performance upgrades and addressing technical issues.
Keeping your vehicle well-maintained with regular servicing is crucial, but part of the enjoyment of owning a high-performance car is enhancing it over time. These upgrades don’t always come at a high cost. In fact, significant performance improvements can often be achieved with relatively small investments. Upgrading gear ratios or installing performance clutches are examples of modifications that can lead to noticeable gains, especially if the existing components are worn or slightly damaged.
Technical issues are inevitable for any vehicle over time, and gearboxes are no exception. Problems such as worn synchro rings, noisy gears, or difficulty shifting can arise, particularly if your Porsches is driven frequently or used under demanding conditions. Porsches that are used primarily for short trips or have been left idle for extended periods aren’t exempt from issues either. They can also develop issues such as fluid leaks or corrosion, compromising your Porsche’s gearbox performance.
Addressing these issues requires a thorough inspection and repair process by experienced professionals. This includes replacing worn components, resealing to prevent leaks, and ensuring all parts are in optimal condition. A well-executed gearbox repair can restore factory-level performance, improving gear engagement and overall driving experience to get you and your Porsche back to doing what you love best.
Whether you want to enhance your Porsche’s track performance or maintain its condition, our workshop is staffed with experienced mechanics specialising in every kind of gearbox repair. We have the skills and expertise to ensure your vehicle performs at its best.

What is our Gearbox Rebuilding Process?
Almost every engine transmission rebuild is different, but our overall process guides how we work with our customers’ vehicles. In every case, we’ll be sure to keep you informed about the progress and meticulously document the gearbox repair or rebuild with photographs and a tolerance record sheet.
- Step 1 – Initial consultation
We begin with an initial consultation to determine the future use, budget, and specifications to be achieved for your gearbox rebuild. - Step 2 – Deposit & payment options
We require an initial deposit upon instruction (normally 30%). Depending on the complexity of the gearbox rebuild, we can accept stage payments or a balance on completion. Finance options are also available for high-budget builds if required. - Step 3 – In-house bedding-in procedure
If the vehicle is present for the rebuild, we perform the ‘bedding-in’ procedure in-house. This involves installing running-in oil and driving your Porsche for 800-1200 150 miles to ensure optimal performance and durability of the gearbox. - Step 4 – Post running-in service
After the running-in period, we refill the oil and perform any necessary adjustments, such as a thorough inspection and fine-tuning of the gearbox components.
